Coal production in Ukraine in 2013 was about 64.976 Million tons. With the ongoing conflict in the country, there has been a decline in coking coal production and in coal power generation, particularly in the affected eastern regions of the country.
Coal Production Ukraine reported that its coal production has fell by 51 percent in January compared to the same month in 2014. Coal production was 3.421 million tonnes in January 2015, said the Ukrainian Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry.
The coal production in Ukraine decreased by 17% yoy in the first nine months of the year, said Deputy Minister of Energy and Coal Industry Yuriy Zhukov. For the period were harvested 57 million tonnes against 68.6 million tonnes in the same period of the year, he said.
Ukraine produced approximately 1 percent of total world coal production in 2012 (see Table 34 -1) producing 64,362 million tonnes (Mmt) of saleable hard coal according to the U.S. Energy Administration, making it the fourteenth largest producer of coal in the world (EIA, 2014a).
Kiev — Ukraine's production of coal dropped by 22.1% year-on-year, or by 770,000 mt, to 2.71 million mt in April from 3.48 million mt produced in April 2016, the energy and coal industry ministry reported Thursday, citing preliminary data.
